Kitchen Refurbishment - Guildford

Having recently acquired this early 1900s property, the clients were fully aware of the necessary renovations to ensure the home met modern comfort standards.

Among the extensive internal modernization efforts, the kitchen refurbishment emerged as the highest priority due to issues with rising damp. After thorough discussions, we concluded that the optimal solution would be to eliminate the existing suspended timber floor and replace it with a solid concrete slab. This approach also involved implementing remedial damp proofing for the external 9-inch solid walls, along with internal insulation.

Additionally, the clients seized the opportunity to remove an internal load-bearing wall while the kitchen work was underway, resulting in a significantly larger open-plan space. Following replastering and the installation of the new kitchen, the final result exceeded the clients’ expectations and, most importantly, ensured a warm and dry environment.
